• After a few minutes of the customary B&C blissful vibe, they transition to minor with tasty Barber licks and Magner playing a standard piano patch. They shift back to major and Sammy brings in a halftime reggae beat. A chill jam develops, sounding very much like a Jigsaw Earth intro (Jigsaw would be debuted a few months later on 10/7/99). Barber was clearly feeling this jam, because he starts singing some Hey’s and Whoa’s out of nowhere. Eventually Sammy increases the tempo. Barber teases Voices, and then the full band goes into a mini Voices jam, before Brownie segues into the Basis middle funk section.
1999-05-05 Exit/Inn S1 A remarkably strong spring 1999 version that, like most of its counterparts from that tour, quickly leaves the confines of poppy and blissful type one and enters a passage of demented type two. Sammy and Barber lead the jam through a passage of some of the most primally psychedelic music ever performed. Hear at all costs.

Magner locks in to a haunting theme very soon after the jam departs from bliss territory, and he holds it with minimal variation for several minutes. The jam breaks down into some very weird, eerie type two in the middle, sounding somewhat like a Vassillios intro. Around 14:30 the jam very steadily begins to climb back into bliss territory as it returns to B&C.

1999-01-23 Stone Church S1 The jam begins with blissful guitar and piano work, but, like so many of the great early B&Cs, it begins to creep into minor key territory beginning shortly after the six minute mark. Over the 9-11 minute mark the jam builds to a tense crescendo highlighting the impressive interplay between Sammy and Barber that can only be described as controlled chaos. Around the twelve minute mark Sammy begins to introduce the Vassillios intro beat, and the rest of the jam is more or less a Vassillios intro jam. Barber manages to pull off an impressively energetic segue into Vassillios, something not at all common in 1999. An early version of the Svenghali intro riff can be heard at 16:30

• The band enters the jam section very smoothly. There’s a readily apparent continuity between this jam and the composed section of the Techno B&C (the first ever “Perfume” version of a song), especially with Barber’s riff. The jam gradually breaks down and rebuilds along a catchy Barber groove. Around the 14 minute mark the jam breaks down again and rebuilds into a traditional B&C ending.
