All-Timers
Track Notes
- S1Mulberry's Dream
The fact that this standard version was the first with the full band since the massive developments the song underwent in the spring might be disappointing to some. Nevertheless, Barber’s solo in the second jam is as good as type one Mulberry’s gets.
- S1House Dog Party Favor
The first jam explores a passage of ambient space before the return to the countdown riff, the first real exploration of this section.
- S1Shelby Rose
Debut. Absolute skull-crushing dnb, which flavors most of this show (and the rest of the year). The return to Shelby isn’t as smooth as it would eventually become, but the jam itself is as good as it gets.
- S2Story of the World
A darkly atmospheric and moody jam that evolves into a grim trance theme, picking up tempo and heading into dnb territory as it approaches the first ever inverted Ape.
- S2Aquatic Ape
The first inverted version, and the beginning (arguably) of the golden age of Ape as a heavy hitter. The tense dnb theme eventually settles into triumphant trance rock and leads to a fantastic Story ending.
- S2Hope
Debut. Ironically, it’s almost a breather from all the dnb in the show, even though it would later frequently incorporate dnb styles into the jam. Here it is a mellow and vaguely dubby rock jam that builds gradually to the iconic ending.
