<<<<<<<< Shem-Rah Boo >>>>>>>>> (Klipsch - AK6 HERITAGE FLOORSTANDING)
~ For The 300th Ever on July 21 2023 in Hollywood (a weird comedown show after a burner at the Fillmore the previous night!! which for me was the 2nd best show of the summer after Catskill ~ [99% certain these are the true facts lol]
The Fall of 2000 give us some, if not the greatest, 'Shems' ever. No exception here tonight at the house that Max Creek built. Including another hammered Betty, taking the stage, or at least the one in the middle, and getting her freak on. Jah Bless. Also "Immigrant Song" teases. And a beautiful Boop like run up the mountain at 16 mins inish. Post 'man of the year' part always brings it down to psychedelic territory. No exception here.
The following are A / A+ SRB from just fall 2K: Oct. 7 - Vegas (standalone) one of the best shows of 2000
Oct. 14 - Palookaville (sandwiching 'Floes' to end the 1st.
Oct. 25 - Madison ) mindless-shem-hope / although the dribble is the killer, this Shem is know for the "2nd jam"
Nov. 1 - Ziggys / [SRB~DTTB~Hope] the show is tad lesser that the next night in Charleston with an A+ 2nd as well as a terrific palindrome in set one with a Dys AC2B inside. Insanity. I think Brownstein took that time-out with vengeance. Anyway, this great 20 minute SRB. The standard stuff ends at around 6:30. It's all trips galore there onward with Barber's tasty trippy space soloing while Mags gets that acidjazz lead going for a good while. This is pure MK Ultra. This heavenly section gets turned up a few notches at around 15 minutes, it's brilliant. Then the fog rolls in as the downtempo segues into "DTTB" A+
Dec. 1 - Lexington (the other Kentucky) Perhaps top 3 second sets of the year. That CRix! HAB! RLH! Btw, there is a video of set 1 too. This great 2 parter is that good. Part 1 is standard genius with a great Magner takeover as they get into a Confrontation. Part 2 is great for one it comes out of a mind-numbing, monumental 'Mr. Don' to enter 'Shem' in the backside on your typical ass-handed 1.0 mid-tempo groove with Marc's slap-happy crescendo.
New Years Eve Worcester - start of set 3. The best Magner version. Standalone SRB are a favorite. It's all PSYTRANCE & EcsDance, all Magner for the most part with a magnifique rhythm section from Barber and Marc. The ending doesn't go bonkers but still McMasterpiece as Barber is more pronounced as the beautiful ending gets there on a dime. Pure Montana to Rice tonight.
Track Notes
- S1Nughuffer
The jam gets off to a very mellow start, with restrained synth work and rhythmic guitar riffs over a delicate trance beat. It develops into a strangely blissful theme before gradually making its way back toward more sinister territory, culminating in an explosive and thrilling ending.
- S2Hope
A dubby jam with more energy. Barber finds a great groove and Magner delivers a thick and vaguely sinister trance riff. Towards the middle, Sammy begins to incorporate breakbeat flourishes and the jam gradually shifts to a triumphant dnb influenced theme. The return to the ending of Hope is excellent.
- S2Shem-Rah Boo
fantastic and eminently patient. Barber plays a series of sexy riffs over a mellow rhythm, underscored by Magner’s trance synths. The theme breaks down into a tense Magner-led passage that gradually rebuilds into Shem territory.
- S2Spaga
Haunting and ethereal Magner synths characterize the first part, while Sammy holds a light breakbeat rhythm and Barber plays some mournful notes. Magner introduces the flute patch after a few minutes, and the jam becomes more chaotic as Brownstein latches onto an evil rhythm. The jam builds to a furious crescendo culminating in a fantastic Spaga ending. The outro jam is a sinister droning trance vehicle that breaks down into controlled chaos before building back up to a triumphant Helicopters ending.
