This weird show is somewhat hard to review. Wilmington practically counts as a hometown show, and as is evident looking at the setlist there was plenty of pandering to the oldheads. The overall effect was a largely mid-tempo, rock-heavy show with darker-tinged jams.

Not everything works, and sometimes the end result comes across a little schizoid. The second set outshines the first set pretty comprehensively, with the extremely notable exception of one of the best Tourists they've yet to play. There's a very scattered nature to the rest of the first set. It says something when they open with a 20 minute Jigsaw which doesn't really go anywhere all that interesting (including a drum solo).

Set 2's palindrome contains many highlights, particularly in its first half. Trooper McCue contains a mournful piano jam from Magner, while Helix and I-Man throw out lots of sinister psychedelia.

In terms of the IWT Factor, it was nuts to butts in that sticky, crusty venue. Not the worst chomping I've experienced, but more than there should've been. Foolish of me to assume that people wouldn't be that lost in the sauce on a Wednesday. Still, the dinginess added to those dark, exploratory moments in Set 2.
