Excellent come back show after the wet phart in L.A with one of the strongest 2nd sets of the year.
ABRAXAS (masterful) ~> 'Tempest' ~> 'B & C' ~> (power psychedelifunk of the highest degree) 'Grass' ~> 'Minions' (Magner is so creepy it's terrific) ~>
{Back in Grass}: But...to be fair, honest and proud, it must be said of how masterful, electric and smile-inducing the return back into "Grass" is. For 3 and a 1/2 minutes of the ending tune of this triple is one of the sexiest solos you will hear Barber play. Any era! It keeps on extending more and more bars and not in a raw power or build and erupt style of guitar solo but one that sounds like the Devil himself challenged Barber to see if he could indeed be worthy. Technically difficult and no promise of any big mountain top payoff, just slippin' and slidin' up and down and all over. How can 3.5 minutes be so memorable!? Well.....it just is.
Mojo has it right, the Cali / Tahoe shows 90% of the time in 2.0 land are very very good.
[There is no hell....but be nice anyway] peace

This show might look average on paper but it has some excellent 🔥 segments & top versions of songs. Just the highlights: GIG>Minions>GIG Abraxas is a must hear Spraypaint>Tempest>B&C(><)>Spraypaint is also blazing. Was at this run & a decade later I still pull these 2009 SF Fillmore run of shows including the incredible 4/3/09 out for regular listening. Check them all out. Few times they came to CA in 2.0 they lit it up!

Track Notes
- S2Abraxas
Abraxas – A rare stand-alone Abraxas. The jam starts off quiet, dark and almost sinister. Magner with great backing work and sound effects. Barber finds a hauntingly evil lick that becomes the theme of the jam. Allen in the pocket with Brownie’s bouncy basslines. All four members putting in WORK during this jam. (Excellent communication between all four members this whole jam.) The intensity builds and Barber goes wild for a great Abraxas peak.
- S2Tempest
An excellent jammed out Tempest. At 7:30 the jam develops a unique, melodic theme outside the normal song structure that continues until 10:28 when Barber starts a catchy, repeating riff that builds to the end of the jam. 1 of the most interesting versions yet played.
