Is there anything more gorgeous than a slow and steady 'B & C" sandwich when they drop, splash!, seamlessly into dragon-chasing; never attainable pot-o-gold at the end of this Rainbow? This whole 2nd set is the Cheshire grin, evil and gritty Biscuits adventure. Love it!

Set 2: [There is ALWAYS a story to be told, the Greatest Story Ever Told, The Story of the World. Mario eats the mushroom after Mulberry's Dream; later reforms to his home, a farm, realizing a dry, zero yielding field of psychedelics crops and plants are abound. Why? Because the Pharmer's Almanac lied....Mario served Andy & Larry their papers from the ultimate advocate, the avatar of Lady Liberty....''Nemesis'' - the Greek goddess of karma and the fixer of injustice actions. There will be no gold in this Rainbow. Andy and Larry try to get off planet, interbreed and make cosmic Nephilim during the SBmatingcall but it doesn't work, their hearts are not pure. Mario watches now, as A & L(B & C) serve 99 lifetimes as an Orca Whale with full consciousness. These are hard lives but not without merit. Reprise...Mario ask B & C..."Have you learned your lessons?" The ruling with come after encore. GUILTY!!!!! "Down to the Bottom" they go. Mario rents the services of a "Gangster" to make sure they are kept in 42nd circle of hell: a 117 degree 7-11 store where the shift never ends. Mario makes one last trip to the bottom. As Andy & Larry cannot get any lower, punishment fulfilled, they start the journey back towards the top, the light, redemption? But not before Mario tattoo's Andy and Larry with an important message on their backs (after hours of going through razors due to the amazonian hairy clusters of these lawyers, so damn hairy) the tattoo reads "a wise man's little flaws, a friendly cats sharpened claws, the world of thought that makes you pause, and think about your life's great cause" [Story Edit Add-On; Sept. 5 - 2023]

Best "Boom Shanker" & "Rainbow Song"??

I believe the "B & C" section (Bernstein And Chasnoff -> Rainbow Song -> Bernstein And Chasnoff -> SpacebirdMatingCall -> Orch Theme -> SpacebirdMatingCall -> Bernstein And Chasnoff) is not only one of early '07's great jam sections but the best I've heard Allen up to that point. At this point he was obviously catching his terrific groove as best drummer in the world.

Go to Bandcamp, punch in Psychedelic Source Records. They are an excellent record company to say the least. Offering hundreds of instrumental space rock, stoner rock, desert rock, fusion rock music of some of the world's best as stated, space rock bands. These band's songs (90% of them) are long and will suit all of your needs. These are not desperate, badly produced LPs, EPs etc. No, these are the cream of the crop bands. I have been introduced to around 30 bands that I still listen to 3-4 times a week all the while they pump out more great stuff. Btw, cost? pay what you can, including zero.!!!!!! I promise you, after finding a few nuggets you are straight trippin' over, you will give something, anything. As you can. ps- I'm just a huge fan. full stop. and I need for you to go there. it's that good. I have 0 connection but to spread the news that this exists and, no foolin', and the substance is overflowing with talent and creativity.

Aloha!

The Boom Shanker jam begins with the usual dub stuff, but quickly turns into an uptempo dance jam. This is a neat change, and the first time they stretched out Shanker into something other than a dub jam. I enjoyed almost every second of this, and the band crafts a really neat, mysterious theme near the end of the jam. Other than the famous ShimmyShanker, this is probably the best version of Boom Shanker of all-time. The jam into Morph is fine, if short. The Buddha jam has a lot of potential early on. Unfortunately, they get into the ending section way, way too quickly. I’ll note this as a highlight, as the early portion of the jam is very solid, but wish they would extended this quite a bit more. Jamming out Onamae Wa is neat, but the jam here doesn’t do much for me. Abyss > Morph is a letdown.

Mulberry’s has two forgettable jams in it. The first B&C jam is nice. Brownstein has some bouncy basslines in here that I think work really well, and the slowdown prior to the transition to Rainbow Song is well done. The jam out of Rainbow Song is really solid. Even though this isn’t the greatest jam ever, it’s still probably on the short list of best Rainbow Songs ever, which makes this a highlight in and of itself. The second B&C jam has a nice little theme before the switch into Spacebird. I wish this was extended a little more, as the theme has a lot of potential. The jam out of Spacebird just doesn’t have enough time to breathe for me to get interested. The jam out of Orch Theme turns into Fanfare for the Common Man, followed by a Spacebird ending. This is okay if you’re into Fanfare, but the jam itself is pretty mediocre. The jam back into the ending of Bernstein and Chasnoff has a great “evil” jam in it. This gets dark and chaotic in a really interesting way, and Magner even (I think?) utilizes the vocoder at one point. The encore actually has a neat jam out of Down to the Bottom into Gangster. This gets a little far out there, considering that Brownstein is pretty much firmly in the Gangster intro for most of this. I guess vamping with that single bass note can be helpful for Barber and Magner to do some exploration. Neat. Jam back into DTTB from Gangster is fine to end a very nice show!

Highlights: Shanker**, Buddha, B&C (1, 2*) Rainbow Song*, Spacebird (2**), DTTB*
