{{ This is a Power show. Psychedelic Downward Dog Solar Dancing at every corner}} this New Year's run is illegal in 31 states and in the Canadian Maritime provinces. studies show your brain rips to shreds. Thank you for the 2018 remaster, is sounds thick, shiny, wide and wicked.
set 1: 9.20 / 10 set 2: 9.75 / 10 sound (RM) 9.9 / 10
SET 2 Yes, the 2nd set is one of the best of the year with the orgasmic Crix ~> Shelby (1st ><) ~> Crix ; a powerhouse show-closing HDPF, a mean MEMPHIS and a great double encore. You know this set inside out (I hope) and it's been analyzed a lot therefore I'll look at set 1. Lovin' the bassline Brownie uses during the MEMPHIS jam, The manic synth / bass situation at 6 minutes in is pure and simple tremendous evil. The final few minutes settles things as the grand slam of the night approaches. Crix (same speed and tempo as 'Mindless Dribble'!!) ~> Shelby ~> Crix. You know this enough and if not, no spoilers....simply listen to it. It is PERFECT BISCUITS. One of Magner's finest segments as a Biscuit.
This is why I love this 'House Dog' so much and think it's right up there with the other touchdowns this night:: Dr. Sammy Altman. Also, the jam starting at 13 minutes to the end. This climax is a 2 cigarette necessity.
SET 1 What about the 1st set? Delicious and would be a highlighted set any other night. From the ending tension and release from '7-11' building towards the 'Munch' ending.
The standalone 'Spacebirdmatingcall' (a.k.a. The Betty & Barney Hill medley) are you a Sammy Spacebird or an Allen Spacebird? answer: yes. The jam at 6 minutes is all Sammy and Brownie (mostly, kinda) the backbone low end is so well played and constructed that Barber & Mr. Mags cannot help but add their best to the situation. When they do, Sammy doubles up on the kick to take into very cool, intense murky waters. When you go to a show, you gotta get a little scared once in a while. Just to get the blood flowing. So Barber shreds all the way through Spacebird while Marc plays the "mouth harp/ jaw harp / jew harp" sounding bass like he's under a spell...If this is the "weak" point of the show we are golden and extremely fortunate.
40 minute combo of 'The Very Moon' ~> 'Run Like Hell. I believe it was during this combo that they were aware that the 5th dimension had been reached by the band thus the excellence. Corrinado should have sold the HABT company, planted a bomb in the basket as Manilla tested the Balloon solo. Boom. Perfect ending. Seriously, the 1st VM jam is quite good. It's a straight up high tempo jam happy jam led by Barber and assisted by Marc beautifully as they eventually cruise back to the simpler synth-led groove. This is some killer DnB jamming coming towards the end, Mark does nice work pulling back, creating natural suspense of the highest caliber towards......
RLH - this is an eerie and intense version. the confidence is palpable. great intro jam, FRANTIC with a smile....you can't tell where the hell they are heading for a while until you hear those familiar notes underneath start popping up. Then at 4:20 ON THE NOSE the song "starts". Goose bumps. Very nice bongo beat as the ambient jam lets loose and heads towards a straight up 'hard rock' approach I suppose. Very cool. Marc greets the crowd as they approach the landing. Blissco 1.0
It's good to have you in the band! Peace.

Though the main jam doesn’t go deep into type two like the spring versions, it has a lovely and patient theme. The funk jam settles into mid-tempo trance almost immediately, and explores this theme for a while before dropping the tempo for a powerful Run Like Hell intro.
- S1Run Like Hell
The mid-verse jam is sparse and sinister, and very out of the ordinary. The tempo changes and the band briefly explores a demented groove. Short, but very worth hearing. The main jam reaches a sinister theme and yields a massive Run Like Hell peak.
- S2Crickets
Absolutely brain-melting, breakneck trance. A short jam, but an absolute firecracker.
- S2Shelby Rose
Thematically gorgeous, and focused pretty much right from the start. Yields what is, to me, undeniably the greatest Crickets peak of all time. Must hear.
