< a fairly good SBD but lacks real clarity and high fidelity. through the cans, it sounds a little too bunched up with a lack of soundscape. a terrific candidate for a matrix creation with Mr. Schmidt's crowd source. it worked fantastic with Columbia MO on the 15th. although it took 5 hours+ >

[C pile] ok to good CWB / O Fortuna / Magellan(2)

[B pile] very good to excellent MEMPHIS ~> Cyclone / Sven / And The Ladies / Magellan(1)

[A pile] monsta / best of / monumental / the night's gems The Very Moon / Astronaut(1,2) / Robots / Spaga

<><><><><><> [I] ~Love the MEMPHIS jam, a good 8 minutes of progressive grooves ; ~strong Cyclone, perfect transitions into and out of; ~Terrific 'ATW' ! Such a great version with nice atmosphere jams in between the power plays ~Sven ending is what it is plus a big helping of Allen's playing, on the verge of putting holes through those skins. Very energetic climax (just like a good night at the community dance)

Set 1:: 7.70 / 10

[II} ~this Spaga is made better by the way Allen is playing tonight. He and Barber are as one at breakneck speed. The ending ditty from 19 minutes to 27 sees some pretty evil bass attacks underneath Mr. Mags tasteful grand piano. It stretches into a rhythm approach as they depart the song with Barber strumming away while the B3 is now funking it's way along. A definite step up from an average Spaga (IMO) ~ the SITA jam takes it's time and is nice n' cozy in type 1 stuff and I personally love this as I don't mind when the 'circular' jams show up. These can often times be the most groovy danceable tunes in all of it's glorious minimalism. It's how funk was built eh? Nice, sexy funk as we head over and meet the Ladies >>>> ~ ATLWTROTN - DnB combined with alien communication with the Greys from Magner. A definite 'Knight Rider' groove in full effect as well.
Barber comes out swinging at around 7 minutes! Some real cool axe swinging here as we enter the beginning of the song. The final 6 minutes+ starts pretty ordinary except the popcorn popping everywhere percussion work. Very cool approach. Love it. ~ ''Save the Tesla corporation from making Robots that will enslave us all'' (aka StR) - Holy 1st jam Batman! One of the prettier 2.0 Robots jams (imo). Yes, that is perhaps overstating? maybe but it's the exact jam I would want. It's all Barber. He eases into the segment cool and nobody's fool. His delicate and very technical phrasing is quite uplifting while staying psychedelic enough to stay out of Normsville. I wish it went on for for 30 minutes. Of course he finds a path to take him to summit...and a nice approach and landing awaits us all. Climbing Barber Mountain feels like 'running on a treadmill and breathing through a straw' {{ stage banter }} At this point Barber has some fun with a few kids, you see, the igloo, like the pyramids around the world, must be constructed and remain on certain power ley lines or their function ceases.}} Now, jam 2 is not nearly as inspired as it's straight up drum n bass although with nice attendance from Barberino. He can turn shit into Hagen Daas Soft Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream. Show ends in a flurry. ~ I enjoy the effort brought forth with the MOM encore, even if a little flat. No matter, at least they tried something a little different. In the end the Magellan is carbon copy but that is not necessarily a bad thing :)

Set 2:: 8.65 / 10

November of '06 is pretty hot(well, A LOT of it) except for some of the recordings' sound / editing. Allen, the delicate and rare flower that he is, bloomed during this time in a big way. Moshi was on his way to become Fameus.

Much Love !!

CWB begins with a 5-minute or so long jam. This is not bad, but just doesn’t stand out much to me. The beginning sounds like they could be headed for some spacey Blissco, but winds up pretty similar to many other versions of CWB. First Memphis jam is not far outside of the box, but solid. Second jam is basically the same — solid, well-played, and has a great groove as the band develops a catch four-on-the-floor jam. Cyclone is again, well-played, catchy, color between the lines, but still good. The jam out of Waves begins with the usual fast trance and turns into a forgettable DNB jam. Meh.

Spaga first jam is the usual DNB fare. There are parts that I enjoyed, but mostly this was filler for me. Second jam never really ventured far outside of type 1 territory. The SITA jam is extended, although it, too, never leaves type 1 territory. The Astronaut jam gets dark, dissonant, and at points downright evil. The jam out of Ladies has some neat percussive stuff going on, but otherwise forgettable for me. First Robots jam is very solid. Barber has some great phrasing throughout this and I love the main little lick he plays around with. Barber has a bunch of “Put the igloo over there,” banter immediately following the jam. Okay then. Second jam is the usual DNB. Magellan’s first jam feels like the band is just sort of treading water to get to O Fortuna. This is a cool novelty, but not much beyond that. There’s no final jam into Magellan ending.

Highlights: Memphis (1, 2), Cyclone, Astronaut (2**), Robots (1*)
