The Sonar in BMore:: what a sketchy place :) around a decade ago, the owner got popped for 10 years for dealing drugs in there as well as money laundering. I only saw 1 show there in the early 2000's (The Slip / Percy Hill) and personally, I only saw 10 people shooting up in the john so that's minor.
For set 1, the quality of the night starts with their best "love tune" 'OTFP'. Gorgeous song and this one is top 3 all time for this freaker. 'Py Twy' ~> nice version with beautiful Mags/Barber jam, gorgeous. 'Dorfdusselmorph' is fantastic in this architecture. As the ending refrain eases they go straight into a killer mid section, this version is so good...different! This middle section is a cool psychedelic dance funk. 5 out of 5!! Nice build up at the end to go towards the star of the set.. ~> 'Spaga' - next thing you know, we're in it. Nice take on the first verses. This will be an exploratory version..I can smell it. At 2:30 ish the bliss jam begins. You can feel the kick drums thump inside your third eye. I can't give this version enough credit. The controlled euphoria is ridiculous. Legendary. Shit gets real at around 10 mins :)
set 2 - Excellent opening trio segment of Triumph ~> Little Betty Boop ~> Nughuffer. Triumph is simply a winner with extra sauce. They are flying and you are dancing like a fool :) ~> BoopBettyLittle ~> everyone in the band at this point (mind-reader) knows and are invested into this set to bring it into another level as they are ALL on the ball. Marc is ridiculous on most LBB's but this one has that extra, extra low-end magic. ~> the Nughuffa' ending jam is a nice touch. ~> Crix ~> Shem - for the last quality chunk of the night we take a ride through a near 45 minutes duo that ends the show nicely. Crickets get going in sweetest of ways at around 6 mins. The dance off has begun. Marc is one dirty, dirty bass player. Man, he can take over a song's theme in the shortest of time. I love the example he puts forth here. Very basic chords but incredibly placed and a nicely complements the others. ~> Chef Shem Rah Goo - The 1st jam session is gorgeous in it's simplicity. I think the second half could have had more mustard so to speak. It isn't a bad Shem but definitely not their best.
show rating: 4/5 or 7.5/10
For the Strain of the Show today, I am going for an old faithful. :::
[Durban Poison] this pure sativa has it. A very kind strain that packs a punch, gets you plenty happy blended with energy and focus. A nice "concert" bud. Also, I sometimes use this strain for mountain biking and skiing. It's great for outdoor activities. Couch lock is not anywhere near this strain's profile. Go get an 1/8th and enjoy the show!!
Peace & Nugs.
