First show in 20 days but there's little rust here.
The Ladies sandwich that opens up the show is not terribly long, despite all the songs packed in. The good news is that the jams, while not lengthy, are all excellent. Well, Spacebird might be a bit average, but everything else brings the heat and doesn't waste any time, either. I've listened to this show many times and there are a handful of licks and moments from this segment that are imprinted on my brain.
The other segment that's really notable is the Reactor + Shimmy sandwich from S2. Nothing abut this pairing will surprise you, but the intensity of the peaks is enjoyable (-> Shimmy and -> Reactor).
Ulua is a really catchy song, check it out if you haven't heard it before!

{Overlooked and undercooked} spRINg TouR - Show #1 source: 70% SBD(disclogic) / 30% dpa 4021's spread 10 feet(Amos Joliette) sound fluctuations were accidental yet they are there. this happens around 4 times.
I enjoy this show a tad more than the next night but damn, that 'House Dog' and 'KSands>Mindless>Crix' chunk is delicious.
1 A) the longest tune of the night is 'Shimmy' at just over 17mins which is pretty low for longest song, especially in this killer time period. You can have ALL of 2001 (but I get to keep Vancouver) and I'll take 2002 all day and all night. Crazy talk eh? :)
There is WAY too much going on to analyze this show completely so small portions is the deal.
At around 8:00 in the opening 'Ladies' Barber increases the tempo and fist pumping sequence with beautiful little jams until they all land on 'Spacebarber' nicely. The spacedisco Barber jam starts at around the 6 minute mark and the groove is true and building percussively into a well placed 'Shem' as Mags lays down the most beautiful "birdy song" sounds and the underwater bubble bass brings you where you need to go. Pretty average but 'Shems' are usually always fun to shake a leg...warts n all. "Man of the Year" part starts the trip of leaving 'Shem' towards "Down to the bottom' > 'Ladies' (conclusion) ohhhh yeah, Sammy on DTTB is a wizard; especially when he would (like here) start the kick drum, announcing oncoming voyage of the strangest order :) no disappointments in this version.

[The Jigsaw Dream]
So,lol, this is Jigsaw > Mulberry!!! > Jigsaw > Mulberry > Jigsaw
The total time(?) around 23 mins. That is extremely short, especially with a Jigsaw, even though it's in 3 sections plus throw in a divided Mulberry and that's averaging around 4:30 a tune. I think this exact combo happens in '09 and it's 90% of the set.
Sometimes less is better but it doesn't matter what I think...I just hope more people get back into / get into the Bisco world...it won't last longer than 3-5 more years from what "I've Heard" (could Mags be wanting out at the end of 2022?) Killer Mulberry(1) in case you are keeping score.
''Shimmy'' is manic panic funk of a sublime order. Nice middle eastern vibes. It includes a pretty f*ck up 'redo' into the jam portion but the groove comes back nicely and honestly soon after.
It's a fantastic setlist and it's a great show, sorta like one of the top 4 star shows around. Take away 3 songs here and extend the jams in the remaining ones would make this an all-timer (IMO) but it kills just the same.
This show has a familiar construction formula: 1 A & B 2 opener; A & B encore
5 different "chunks" of 30 to 45 minutes for you to find your personal preference. 'AC2B' encore is a must...very good.
Will have a take on set 2 soon.
