Epoch defining jungle. Magner’s synth sounds call to mind the coos of tropical birds. The band creates order around Sammy’s insane breakbeats, the very definition of controlled chaos. The effect is at once a hauntingly catchy atmosphere with inscrutable complexity. The jam covers a diverse territory and builds to a gorgeous ending.
- S2Above The Waves
The jam begins as the standard fall 99 dub Waves exploration. The theme Magner locks into carries the first half of the jam until it breaks down and Sammy shifts from a dub groove to a more standard rock and roll style. The remainder of the jam is a Barber-led exploration of a Pygmy intro—probably the closest Pygmy has gotten to a true intro jam.
- S2Pygmy Twylyte
A mellow yet morose trance jam develops out of Pygmy, breaking down and rebuilding into a decidedly more fast-paced Barber-led section. The build into Waves is some of the greatest Barber ever.
