WIS is standard. Pygmy has the usual jambandy jam. This doesn’t move the needle for me all that much, even if there are moments that Magner tries to make this spacier and more interesting. The jam out of Minions is just okay, and then Voices, Stone > Waltz are standard. What a boring, short set.
Kamaole has a lot of water treading, though the Confrontation peak is decent. The Confrontation jam begins with a pretty straightforward dance jam. Near the Boop transition they speed up massively and the resulting 2-3 minute jam is a marginal improvement. The energy here is great, and Magner’s lead work is really nice. I won’t be re-listening to this, but did note it as a highlight simply because I like what Magner’s doing so much here. The first Boop jam has the typical jam/funk/blues stuff. Not interesting most of the time, or here. Boop’s trance jam is very fast, and that’s about it. The first few minutes of the Ape jam are dark, plodding, boredom. However, just after the 11-minute mark, the band switches to a much softer, gentler sound and it pays off massively. This is very, very pretty Blissco. The Morph jam actually gets a little more experimental than the typical middling funk. The band tries out a couple new things which I think are okay. I’ll note this as a highlight simply because they tried something a little new here. Ball encore is standard.
Highlights: Confrontation, Ape*, Morph
