Show was great. Pre-pandemic optimism until second set guest. Love that guy, but not the vibe for a Capitol show. Jah.
But, not my room to judge. Floes and Kitchen Mitts were choice.

The Story jam begins with the usual mediocre funk. Around the 12-minute mark, Magner has a nice multi-chord progression, and follows it up with some solid leadwork as well. Unfortunately, Brownstein doesn’t follow along on this chord progression, and this winds up being just okay. The Shem-Rah jam has Magner teasing “What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor” for a few bars. Um…okay. The rest of the jam, and the jam out of Gangster, don’t do much for me. A jamless Strobelights followed by a “funk” jam in On Time make for a disappointing end to an otherwise disappointing set.
7-11 has a decent jam, right up until Matisyahu. I’m pretty over this dude, and I’m not sure how the Biscuits are still so enamored with hi when he’s so utterly one-dimensional. Whatever. Middle Floes jam is forgettable to the max. Pilin has the usual dark DNB jam that is pretty meandery for my tastes. The HDPF 1 jam is absolutely boring. Second HDPF jam is pretty straightforward but not bad, and Mitts encore is standard.
Highlights: 7-11, HDPF (2)
