<> The Freaks Invade The Beach - 'The ocean swells, I move away. It follows me, As if to play' <> (how can some FANS omit this year!!??....actually directed to Darcy & Aline :) & the "must-argue-every-point-crew" out of Bucks County; killer year with some flaccid situations sprinkled here n' there...but not this one!...this one's brought to you by Cialis)

Set I: 7-11 ~> King of the World ~> Little Shimmy In A Conga Line(completion)

'7-11' - A very strong opening triple. The 7-11 jam starts with much funk gusto at around the 9:30 min mark. There's no sit and wait on a repetitive beat here...it shoots right in with some interesting and boogie-filled untzadelic action. Marc gets to play some nice underneath stuff while Barber and Magner exchange various back & forth phrasing while Sammy steers the tune tempo wise as well as well as resetting the beat; mini-startovers within the jam. Mellow and playful.

'KotW' -

  • An incredible version! Easily recognizable as such. Excellence is excellence. Straight up great energy, the usual suspects appear in this version but what makes this one memorable is the halfway point (around 8:30 mins in or so) The many different textures to the ending 8 minute jam, made with genius patience and a mindmeld with the others. It starts as a purrrty little jam with pure exploratory intentions. Superb mid-tempo stoner rock inching ever so slowly towards a faster and faster groove. This 8 limbed cohesiveness is working hard. Time signature? yeah right. Such grace and control as they say goodbye to 'KotW' and ramp up the beat a few notches. Adore this version!

'Shimmy' - Tasty take on the ending they started the previous night. A real nice 7 minute high energy ending that is for certain. There is a terrific 4 minute part of this that is pure middle eastern ecstasy jamming = That nice 'Shimmy' outro we all love.

'Floodlights' - I had forgotten how good this standalone version is but that familiar midpoint jam is so tight, funky and beautiful that I had to highlight this as a big highlight. You will love this jam when you relisten. The MVP here is 'practicing / soundcheck jams' but man, Mr. Mags and Sammy are simply overloading us with that Biscuits dopamine. TREMENDOUS.

Set II: [French Valium]

'Reactor outro jam' ~>
a pretty standard jam for the era but still very energizing and fun ~>

'Crix middle jam!' ~>
holy shit this is a nice groove. Barber shreds and Dr. Sammy is perfection is this tune. Now we are in slow-n-sexy mode. A bass led section and a reset of the direction takes us to around 11 minutes in where the final descent into Magellan takes flight.

'Magellan' [38 minutes in length; Barber's voice is SHOT but he's a trooper)
Magellan is such a great song and seeing it as a standalone without any different architecture from inversion, dysl, or anything else. This is where this tune shines the most (in the early - mid 2Ks) just A to B. One tune...no AC2B here. At the risk of saying good jam again for the 215th time, I'll just say relisten or listen for the first time or whathaveyou and let these 38 minutes take you there [ps: 15 minutes in is where the treasure is as well as the keys to the Hot Air Balloon)....'fore the next tune to wrap it all up is the surprise of the night and also the best ever version of...........

'The Tunnel' ever. although the split version over the 2 night run at the Mish during Disco Inferno summer 2002 is a very close number two. (opinion)

No 'Tunnel' review. Simply spin one, point the AC to your face and sit back.

<< Strain for the Beach. The kind when you wake up you look like a half-cooked lobster and your ass is white as blow err snow.

[Purple Queen Automatic]
comes from Purple Queen x Critical Auto. in all honesty, this herb is one of the most pleasantly relaxing without couch melt that I enjoyed in awhile! The "mid-powered thc" is nice. Euphoria’s cannabinoid profile underpins her deeply relaxing effect. Her purple-green buds produce a THC level of 9% to 13% alongside high quantities of CBD. This perfect blend keeps the mind clear, eliminates tension on sight, and prevents rumination from setting in. You can smoke this strain all day long without getting overwhelmed.
