E118 - Leora and Corrinado All Day
E118 - Leora and Corrinado All Day - It's not every day that we get someone on this podcast who can actually sing. This week, we get two! Barber and Max are joined by the immensely talented Hanna Gaffney and Matteo Scammell from the cast of The Very Moon musical. Hanna and Matteo discuss how they came to be involved in this project, their impressions of the Biscuits and their fanbase, and what they've learned from their brush with live improvisational jamband music. PLUS: Max surprises Barber with an early live rendition of "Rifftastic," better known today as the Touchdowns All Day theme song!
This episode features excerpts of the following live performances:
- Reactor, from October 9, 2009 at The Calvin, Northampton, MA
- Tourists (Rocket Ship) (ft. Matteo Scammell), from March 29, 2024 at Webster Hall, New York, NY
Special thanks to The Very Moon co-creator Nicholas Schmidle for sharing the following audio and video recordings of the live workshop held on May 13-14, 2023:
- Voices Insane, from May 13-14, 2023 at FringeArts, Philadelphia, PA

The Electric Factory was alive with Philly grit and Bisco magic as the hometown heroes took their legacy to new heights. From the punchy opener “Kitchen Mitts” to the transcendent “Basis for a Day” encore, this third chapter of the 2004 New Year’s Run was a love letter to the City of Brotherly Love. Highlights included the lone pairing of “Shimmy > Pat and Dex,” the rare “42 > Run Like Hell > Shimmy” segue, and a nearly 30-minute “Basis” that cemented itself as an all-time classic. Playful, daring, and deeply connected to their roots, the Biscuits delivered a homecoming performance that was both nostalgic and forward-thinking—a quintessential Philly masterpiece.
Countdown Rewind: Celebrating the 2004 NYE Run - 12/28/04 Boston
The Disco Biscuits’ 12/28/2004 show at Boston’s Avalon Ballroom captured a fleeting moment of magic in a venue on the brink of history. With an adventurous setlist featuring rare transitions like "Munchkin Invasion >< Aquatic Ape" and the playful inclusion of "Safety Dance," the night showcased the band’s ability to blend unpredictability with precision. Balancing joy and creativity, this performance remains a hidden gem of the 2004 New Year’s Run, leaving the crowd and its legacy glowing long after the final note.
Countdown Rewind: Celebrating the 2004 NYE Run - 12/27/2004 Albany
The Disco Biscuits, known for weaving immersive, genre-defying narratives through sound, stood at a pivotal moment in their history. With drummer Sam Altman preparing to take his final New Year’s Eve bow with the band, the energy was electric, the stakes monumental. What unfolded that December wasn’t merely a series of concerts; it was a journey into the unknown, a farewell steeped in triumph and transformation.
