Don’t be fooled by the insanely low 2.9 show rating, this is a very good show. Recently relistened w/ some great knowledgeable fans & everyone agreed its a surprisingly inspired jammed show. Caterpillar>Abyss jam is definitely worth hearing & not boring at all! Triumph>Minions>Robots(><)>Triumph is a very well played extended jam, just terrific versions of both Robots & Triumph. 1st Sample is short but shows the potential that we’ve seen recently. The rest of this show by itself is min 4 stars. Caterpillar>Abyss has a very trancey, funk groove that is different than many Abyss’s. Tempest>Caterpillar is musically great w/ some nice Barber licks around the Cat theme leading into a nice ending. The next segment, is a must hear Helix>dyslexic Munchkin. An amazing melodic uplifting jam follows & finishes off this show b4 a Munchkin>Helix encore that dots the exclamation pt & sends the crowd home happy. Great stuff!

The initial jam out of Triumph (DNB) does nothing for me, but when they drop to half-time I think they hit a real nice pocket, and there’s some great interplay between Magner and Barber. Unfortunately, Brownstein tips their hand way too soon, and the last 5-6 minutes of the jam is basically a long, drawn-out Minions intro. I’m not sure if this is how they play this now, but to my ears it just sounds like they can’t commit. Minions > Save the Robot > Triumph is utterly forgettable for me, and Afro Blue is played standard. Mulberry’s extends the type 1 jam a little bit more than usual, but ultimately this is nothing all that unique. That Sample Has A Name is a little too long for my tastes, though it feels like it has some potential. Caterpillar > Abyss is pretty boring. The jam out of Tempest starts out with some cool texturing effects from Magner. They develop it a little bit, but not enough for it to have any real lasting impact. Helix has a phenomenal Blissco jam in here. My favorite part of the show by a huge margin. Really glorious, uplifting stuff. Beautiful. The jam out of Munchkin has a few really cool parts, but never completely comes together in any meaningful way.
