Frog Legs is a weird opener, and not for me. I do not generally like the song. Twisted > Catalyst features Magner playing the same riff from Strobelights & Martinis for what feels like a million years. The Catalyst > Morph section is fine, but nothing special. With that said, the DTTB jam is great, and has a very “old school” feel. This is not really an electronic jam in any sense of the word, but it’s phenomenal Blissco of a different variety. Very jamband-ish, but it works wonderfully, and has a bit of a “I Can See Clearly Now the Rain is Gone” vibe to it. Eulogy is fine. The first HDPF jam is pretty standard. The second jam is unique in that they actually make this really interesting. A lot of 2.0 HDPF jams (both 1st and 2nd jams) have the problem that they’re predictable and feel forced. With that said, this 2nd jam gets creepy and weird, which is exactly what should happen in a HDFP 2nd jam. Good stuff. The Dribble > Crix > Sabre Dance section has parts I thought were decent. In particular, the jam toward Sabre Dance has parts I thought were getting into really interesting territory, but it just never ramps up to that next level. The Svenghali encore is actually really dark and interesting. Magner and Barber have some great interplay. While short, I liked this a lot.
