^^ Voices, Triggerfish and the Buffalo Best Western invaded by the Nitrous Mafia ^^
I don't remember much from this short 2 day trip to the Buff but I do remember the music. Always.
- Voices has a real fine outro but also much more as it sits at around 20 minutes. Magner is ready for some fun. ~>
- AirSong - such a beautiful song. I wonder if they wrote Fiddler in the same sessions or time frame. The 1st jam is great with Mr. Mags up front in the psychedelic synth while Marc is on the bubble pedal(?) creating some very cool under water bubbling bass that is just the tits. Apologies to the women reading this (is that possible?) for saying tits. You are not objects. It's just that, well, I love your milk makers. The final 5 minutes has Barber in a stream of consciousness that translates nicely. *Mirrors ~> Naeba - long, well played Mirrors is a true gift. I am very much a fan of this song as it opens up endless possibilities in every way. The final 9 minute instrumental piece of the song is tremendous. Most of what is lead is Magner. At 12:30 ish the best Mirrors jam/sound is on the loose. What a funky groove they lay down. ~>
- Naeba - it's quite the standard above average version. Very happy and the transition into Sound One is on the money.
SET I: 8.95 / 10

Spaga - top notch version although the first chunk of jam is very repetitive and frankly going nowhere or well, round and round. After the midway bridge they find the golden road. This is such a fun, funky crazy jam. Of course Magner is the lead on most but the terrific backing is what gets ya. The bass is magnifique, the bubbly bass is back. The 3rd and last jam wraps it up nicely on a very high note.

Nuffer (best 2010 version by a country mile!) - weed story ~> untzin' like it's 1999. What a great Nuffer jam!!!!!!!! and you get a solid 8 minutes of it as they move into Catalyst in it's perfect slot. It gets weird, creepy and so much fun. The Nughuffer jam was one of the highlights of the night for sure. Everyone had that sweetly organic all at one bouncing up and down, side to side and in circles. This version is up there! A+ ~>

Catalyst ~> this great tune is nearly a half hour and there are way too many bits and pieces to express but I'll keep it short and stubby. Once again, it must be said, Magner is MVP. He is having a hell of a great night. Very little Barber except for underneath rhythms and accents. ~> YES!!!!!!!!! IT'S humu.

humu - the SBD doesn't do justice to the cosmic freakout from the reaction in the crowd to this nugget when the first notes showed themselves. It's inverted therefore you get the long intro, very nice groove, Barber is back and ready to participate like a mf. ~>

Nughuffer part deux - Power Biscuits. This is not your cute little reprise or the like. This is the end of a 2 day run of solid shows....time to squeeze every last drop. And WOW!!! do they ever lol. Amazing intense jam after intense jam. You get some more mellow jamming heading towards the end but it is just as good. The end reminds me of the classic 'Basis' jamout from Sept. 2009 at Stubbs. More in spirit and rhythm. Terrific. **ENCORE - HDPF - Dynamite version. Beautiful goodbye jams while really nailing the technical aspects of the tune. I'll take a good HDPF encore any 'ole day.
SET II: 9.25 / 10
Some say best show of the year. If it isn't, it's semantics and personal preferences only that it's not.
^^ [Funfetti] Hard to get, usually you will find it in Cali / Oregon. This wonderful 60-40 indica hybrid floats at around 20% thc and crosses Cherry Pie with a select phenotype of Animal Cookies called Secret Cookies. As you taste this delicious vanilla flavored herb, you will be stoned of the highest caliber. Great wake-n-bake. peace & love
