Caves is jamless, but they do a kind of “DJ” segue into Kitchen Mitts. This version of Caves also still features Barber playing the leads that later became Magner’s. Morph has the typical funk stuff. Meh. This eventually shifts uptempo into more generic jam/dance. Super meh. Eventually this gets into a dancier jam, and winds up culminating in an enormous peak into Cyclone. I thought that the peak went on for far too long, and there were multiple times where Barber missed dropping into the song. What a shock. That said, I did think the last few minutes prior to the end of the peak were decent. The jam out of Cyclone, again, is relatively generic. The ending of this jam prior to the drop in the Shem-Rah Boo features an enormous peak, although this speak I actually did enjoy. The gym in Shem-Rah Boo is another straightforward dance jam. This one features Magner on the pan flute patch, and while I generally like his use of this patch, other than that there’s really nothing going on here for several minutes. After they switched to the Morph track on the recording, this gets a lot better. They have this sort of science-fiction theme that they develop, which represents the first real interesting item in the show to me. The last few minutes of the jam in Papercut feature a two-chord theme with Magner on the Virus playing with different leads. This section was very good, although I wish they had spent more time in the minor key portion of the section before switching to a major key build into Run Like Hell. The rest of this jam is forgettable jambandery, as is the RLH jam to end a mostly forgettable show.

Highlights: Shem-Rah Boo, Papercut

Nice setup of this fest by the Louisville water (ohio river? ; me Canadian lol) Cops? the worst I had witnessed all year. I thought the "D.U.M.B." Tour in '07 had bad popo but this was terrible. I saw a small 5'4" dude get body slammed on his head, unconcious, for sparking a bowl. I understand the "play stupid games win stupid prizes" philosophy but not a concussion and a broken shoulder for smoking a 1/4 gram pipe. Although festivals often give bad reps to the other bands, this is a "them" problem :)

amazing Morph sandwich....pristine A+ combo.
my only 2008 matrix with the SBD and the 414's hanging on the rail. gorgeous sound.

this Morph is definitely an all-timer that gets little to no attention. (you can't hear/attend them all, boy did we try)

'Morph Dusseldorf ~> Cyclone ~> Shem-Rah Boo(unf) ~> Morph Dusseldorf'
also, the Papercut jam into RLH is worth the listen 4 sho.

peace!
