'On December 30th there's just one place to be, On 7th street and Willow there's the Electric Factory'

Although every entertainment spot in Philly is run by the mob, it doesn't mean we can't have a home of our own...The Factory was fun, very fun.
I haven't listened to the 1st set in a long while but recently checked out the 2nd. And it has magic, don't doubt for a second that this 2nd is fire.

The pre-MemphiS jam is nice and a it's a very good version. The transition is nice and surreal. The first chunk of Waves is beautifully introduced and sustained, with strong circular basslines and a theme of a psychedelic Disney movie.
Every song entry in this set is pretty exciting and the drop into the first Crix is great!... a real funky, slappy and full of confidence, a divided Crix in an interesting way.
Everything in this set is in one way or another either inverted, dyslexic or divided in some way alongside hints and teases everywhere.
'Above The Crix, I'm Going Under'

I really like this set a lot. No need to compare this to that or to that tour or year etc...On it's own this is a solid show with many redeemable qualities. Plus, Brownie is so beautiful in this mix.
Oh and the encore is good!!!!

This show is filled with highlights, if u can’t find at least 5 excellent jams here maybe 2006 isn’t for u or this band. Setlist is a fantasy list, but every song is played extremely well & Barber was on a melodic kick tonight, Spraypaint, Crix, & Buddha all have some superior licks that are so good they’ll stick in your ear for a week. I can’t say anything bad about this show, any show opening w// the 7x played Gamma Goblins Is going to be different. This & the following NYE show are 5 star shows hands down & a perfect way to cap off Allen’s 1st year w/ tDB.

Gamma Goblins segues out of Posford’s set to start the show, which is always neat. They don’t really jam this out, but just sort of start playing Voices. Neat nonetheless. The jam out of Voices teases Gamma Goblins immediately, then Crickets. Voices jam leads pretty naturally into Crystal Ball middle. This is nothing worth relistening, but I like the segue generally. Crystal Ball back into Voices is fine. In fact, out of the 3 jams here in the Voices segment, the only one really worth listening to is the final jam in Voices, which turns into a dark trance jam. Frog Legs and Songs of Joy are jamless.

First Memphis jam is very solid. This is about what I want from a Memphis jam sometimes. Some cool Magner hooks, followed by Rock God Barber. Not reinventing the wheel here, but solid. There’s a unique little jam that leads into Waves in a cool way. Not worth relistening to the jam, but an interesting segue. The Waves jam is solid. Again, nothing outside the box, but well played jam. Crickets jam has this start/stop theme in it that was pretty monotonous. Waves into Crickets middle sounds exactly how you would expect. I thought the Spraypaint jam here was solid, although again this is very safe playing. Pilin it High(er) is the first outside of the box playing this entire show, essentially, and it’s pretty cool. This is dark and psychedelic, and I enjoyed it a lot. Lastly, Buddha’s jam is basically one long ending jam. This sounded like it had potential, but the band basically just drew out the ending for a long, long time. Meh.

Highlights: Voices (2), Memphis (1), Waves (1), Spraypaint, Pilin*

    M.E.M.P.H.I.S.

Hearkening back to the monolithic M.E.M.P.H.I.S. jams of 1999, the roughly eight minute M.E.M.P.H.I.S. first jam features exquisitely patient full-band jamming over hip-hop beats and culminates in a magnificent passage of "rock god" Barber.
