There’s no soundboard for set 1 that I had available, which is a shame as there are two marvelous jams here.. Safety Dance is jamless. Reactor’s jam is forgettable. Bullets is jamless. On the other hand the Munchkin jam is fantastic and develops into some really wonderful Blissco. Beautiful stuff. They jam the outro of Bazaar into an absolutely breathtaking Spectacle intro. This is more beautiful Blissco. Wonderful.
The Caterpillar jam is okay. This gets much better as they increase the tempo nearer to Cyclone. Still not anything outstanding, but better than the monotony of the early portion of the jam. Cyclone on the other hand has ANOTHER great Blissco jam! Something in the water at this place, I guess. This turns into a minor key breakbeat jam after this, which is similarly solid. Then, they hit the ending to Caterpillar. Svenghali has a forgettable DNB jam. However, what’s really notable here is the Minions jam. The entire band plays a full on Minions jam. They debuted it about 3 months later. I wouldn’t call this a highlight here as this isn’t really improv, this is just a jam on a piece of music they were clearly working on at the time. Still cool, though. The jam out of 42 into Gamma Goblins is forgettable, but the return is very solid, particularly the minor key shift portion before the return to 42. The Lai encore jam is okay, but quickly turns into more forgettable DNB.
Highlights: Munchkin**, Bazaar**, Cyclone**, 42
