Excellent show at the Penn State campus! This was a mid afternoon show in front of some of tDB loyal fans & plenty of PSU students wanting to see what these guys were all about. They surely did not disappoint! Sabre Dance is a good short song to get the crowd going, then they launched into a very well played rockin Astronaut. This led to the beginning of 1 of my all time favorite versions of HDPF split into 3 parts. The 1st led into a ragin dyslexic Very Moon that continued to get this crowd into a frenzy as they > into the ending of Astronaut. A great set to this point dominated by excellent playing of 3 of their most famous songs. I can’t do this jam justice, it really showed that 2003 was a year when this band would continue to take off. After a Therapy breather, then the show highlight for me was this amazing version of Digital Buddha. This song has gotten better with age, but this version is the best standalone Buddha I’ve heard. It has a patient methodical jam that continues to build & build until it’s insanely melodic, fierce ending! If u listen to 1 part of this show, listen to this Digital Buddha! As someone who’s listened to every version ever, this is still an all time great. Incredible! 2nd set brings a bigger crowd for TVM>HDPF>Hall Of Mtn King. Another segment of fluid, seamless jamming that kept the noob’s & hardcore fans wanting more. The energy kept flowing w/ Confrontation> Moshi-Moshi Jam> into the final part of HDPF which was my fav jam of the 3. 2nd ever Safety Dance followed by Fever & a high octane Svengali sent everyone back to campus happy. This show made homecoming at PSU even more of a rager! Parties all night made getting to Tink’s the next day a challenge but totally worth it. A great show everyone should check out.
