This epicness is downright evil and delicious. My favorite of the NYears shows. The Jig ~> Sound1 (wow) ~> Saw Earth is dance fever 2001. The connection the band has towards each other tonight is magic.

Enough with this. The whole show is a highlight. Truly. If I am searching for unmotivated or sloppy or boring songs or chunks of one, well, I guess The Tunnel encore but even that has master class drumming and a nasty bass carpet. Astronaut might be rushed a bit (?)

In my top 50 of 2001, this show is number 11. Because of the great pace and quality of jams, I always put this on and CRANK it when having buddies over or a party etc...it's fun to see new fans just grin when they hear this triple opener :) it's a funk magnet of the highest degree.

** Strain 'o the Day:: end of year celebratory medicine that keeps you dancing and in that state of tasting the music...
[Glass Slipper] this dynamite sativa-leaning hybrid is full of juice to keep you in that "everything is just perfect" feeling while not having the end of rush anxiety or sofa-melt. Au contraire mon ami, you dip down into a comfy calming state of mind. It usually hits the 22 to 25% thc range so be a tad prudent for your occasional toker...they might see the devil.
Get this immediately. If you can get it. I promise you, friends, it's dynamite...3 bong hits and you are golden.

peace to all.
Show Highlights

Track Notes

  • S1
    Jigsaw Earth

Excellent, playful full-band jamming with a strong Barber undercurrent. It reaches a mild crescendo, breaks down, builds up to a more energetic and Magner-dominated crescendo, and finally breaks down again and segues gently into Sound 1.

  • S1
    Sound One

A tour de force. The jam locks in immediately, proceeding along a simple and addictive trance line from Magner. The jam breaks down into dub, but this trance line maintains continuity between the two themes. The dub theme is more triumphant, with just a touch of melancholy, and it builds to a dizzying crescendo. Spectacular, without a single dull moment.

  • S1
    Jigsaw Earth

A dub jam finds its way into a mellow space until Jon latches onto a menacing line. After a few runs through, the rest of the band locks in and they head into sinister but bouncy territory taking this jam into dark uncharted waters and finally back into the end of Jigsaw.

  • S1
    Astronaut

The jam is well-served by the 02 synths. The jam begins as trance, but soon settles into a tense and percussive passage that builds up and switches on a dime into the Astronaut peak.

  • S2
    Little Betty Boop

The jam begins as playful trance and settles into a strong groove. About halfway through it breaks down into equally playful dub, and explores this section for a few minutes before building back up to the Sands peak.
