This show as a concept is interesting for the band. A pre-recorded show with no crowd seems like it might have the potential for some interesting stuff. Shimmy begins the show with a really neat jam, particularly from Magner. This has an almost Shpongle feel to it, in a pretty great way. First RLH jam is okay, but nothing more (and too short to really be worth relistening). The jam out of RLH is not bad by any means, but just never really feels like they settled on a theme here. Magner is doing some really neat stuff at the beginning of the jam, but they never really take it anywhere. Rock Candy has some interesting stuff near the transition into Running Into the Night, particularly (surprise) from Magner. I swear, Brownstein plays three of the bars for the “Brain Surgery” jam. It’s becoming a crutch, it seems like. The Running jam back into RLH is fine.
