Tunnel > Spectacle to open the show is a lot neater on paper that in reality. This doesn’t do much for me. First Memphis jam is really neat. Barber uses a tremolo effect that works really well, and I just like the vibe of this jam a lot. Second Memphis jam is just okay. Brownstein’s vocals in WLTP are rougher than usual. Jesus. WLTP jam begins with Magner using his crazy, trippy arp. I don’t care if I’ve heard this 100 times, it’s still really cool sounding. This turns into an awesome dance jam with an undeniable groove. Gets darker near the end as they approach Rock Candy ending. Robots first jam is exactly what you’d expect. There’s a really neat ambient jam in the middle prior to the “GO” section that lasts long, but not as long as it should. Please stretch this out for an hour. Brownstein has a neat tease of Haleakala Crater here. Barber near whispers the lyrics which is a really cool touch.
The second set begins with a beautiful Blissco-y jam in the Spectacle intro. The jam out of Spectacle is a solid dance jam. There’s nothing too crazy going on here, but this is nice. The Spacebird jam is not interesting. The Reactor jam features Allen cutting the kick drum altogether. I almost listed this as a highlight as the beginning of this jam is very neat and unusual for the band. However, the peak here is so awful that I removed it. This is awful. Shrill Barber to the max. Jesus. First Crickets jam has a couple neat things going on. The jam out of Crickets back into Reactor is like some sort of weird haunted carnival ride. Not in a good way. The Portal jam is a typical type 1 jam but not bad.
Highlights: Memphis (1), WLTP*, Robots (2**), Spectacle (Intro, 2*)
