Most of this 10-15 minute jam out of 1999 is very similar to “old school” Disco Biscuits jamming, with more of a focus on jam, funk, blues, etc. I couldn’t care less about this style at this point, and certainly not in a 2018 version of the band playing it. They stretch out the SITA jam a lot here, but they’re not really saying much with it. I also think the ending jam is pretty aimless. I don’t normally judge them on the compositions but good god is this version of Jigsaw hard to listen to. Part of the Jigsaw jam has some great phrasing and tone from Barber. Around the 8-minute mark he has a few wonderful licks. Unfortunately, they don’t do much with this. The second jam in Jigsaw is some wonderful Blissco. This is by far the highlight of the night. Unfortunately, the beautiful portion lasts all of a minute. Come on. The last minute or so pre-Triumph is god-awful. The Triumph jam features a ton of noodling from Barber, and the entire band can’t seem to decide what they want to do. Please get me to the second set.

The first 5 minutes or so of the Safety Dance jam are mediocre funk. Around the 9-minute mark, the band shifts uptempo, and they come up with some solid stuff. This isn’t breaking the mold by any means, but Magner has some great stuff going on here. They continue to increase in pace as they head toward Boop middle and they build a great peak. The Boop jam is incredibly boring and is the typical jamfunk garbage that often poisons so many of these jams. The entirety of the Spraypaint jam is treading water and boring. Floes encore is fine.

Floes

Weak night in Vegas... Boring funk jams, second set was around 40 minutes long. The band was tired. Nevertheless, I witnessed my first Floes that night after 30+ shows and I was super stoked. Not worth listening to. If you wanna check out Vegas 2018, check out the next/last night.
