The 1999 jam here is not terrible, but it doesn’t do a whole lot for me. There’s a lot of organ from Magner. This is a lot more like a 1.0 jam, and a lot more jambandy than I’d prefer. Meh. The Don jam is pretty nice. This turns into a nice digital jam with some great sounds from Magner and a lot of e-drums from Allen. This is great. They hit a great progression near the Gangster transition that sounds a lot like the “I Am America” song from Herman Cain’s presidential campaign video in 2012. Fun fact. The jam out of Gangster starts out with a decent major key jam, and they hit on an Abyss-second-section-esque jam for a few minutes. This isn’t bad, but nothing I’d relisten to. Shadow is much of the same. Not bad, not great. Additionally, Marc drops the Rock Candy bassline about four minutes too early. The jam out of Rock Candy is pretty straightforward for most of it, but near the end, before the Don return, they get into this spacey, major key section. This is really nice, even if it’s not necessarily that interesting. The jam out of Don ending is a neat concept, but I don’t find anything appealing about the jam itself. Reactor ending is sloppy.
Highlights: Don*, Rock Candy
