This is a Headcount show and features very minimal actual playing, much less jamming, from the band. Have a Cigar is jamless, of course. Prior to Story of the World, there’s some fantastic banter from Barber talking about his grandfather, PT boats made out of cardboard, Brownstein explaining that the appropriate amount of time for a baseball game is 3.5 innings, and a bunch more baseball talk from Barber, including that his favorite mascot is “the green thing” from the Phillies. Marc then talks about Headcount a bit. Meanwhile, Allen and Magner are just kind of messing around in the background. Story of the World has an almost exclusively jambandy jam in it, and this brings out the absolute worst of the “funk” jams in the Biscuits. Gross. Home Again has John Medeski on keys and Stanton Moore on drums. Interesting combination. Home Again is another very jambandy jam, although this one I at least stomached a little bit more. Stanton Moore is such a talented drummer at this style, and it shows through with a lot of very clever drumming. Overall, this is not even a decent show if you mostly like The Disco Biscuits, but not bad if you’re a fan of jambands in general.
