Asto-freaking- naut-your-typical-SITA-jam... incredible version.

This set was so much fun. The dilated pupiled Bisco freaks stayed up all night and continued here around noonish(?). We danced like Sugarplum Fairies on mescaline. TERRIFIC set. Woke up the next morning half way to L.A. in 100 degree heat in a '73 Westfalia in need of a clutch and oh yeah...BRAKES! The following 2 So Cal shows healed all wounds.

Peasse.

Bazaar to start the show is neat, in that they actually jam it out, which is rare. The jam itself, and the rest of this segment, are nothing all that noteworthy, musically speaking. However, I love the creativity here in terms of the setlist. Bazaar has a neat ambient/space outro jam before the start of Astronaut. Astronaut has an extended SITA jam. I believe this is the first type 2 SITA jam that they did with Allen. It’s a solid jam for sure, and while they never get too far into the type 2 segment, this is nice regardless. Second jam has this plodding, dark sound that I enjoyed, although I wished they stretched this out a bit further. Seems like they had a nice theme going with Magner’s angel choir being brought into the mix, only to immediately move toward the ending. Story is just a little too much jamband funk for me here, and Oname Wa is jamless.

Highlights: Bazaar (2**), Astronaut (1, 2)

After a lackluster late night show the previous night/morning, the Biscuits really knocked it out of the park this night on the Big Meadow stage. The song selection was fantastic, it was much more of a rock show than the untzy Tractorbeam-esque show that the night before was, and it includes my absolute favorite Astronaut SITA jam. They bring it down to this minimalistic spacey e-drum jam that is STILL unlike anything else that I've heard from them. You can hear on the audience recording that the whole crowd was quiet and completely locked into the epicness happening. I've relistened to that jam so many times since I saw it live. Brownie also mentioned in an interview that they finally figured out a new way to jam out of Bazaar Escape in this show, and it really was a fantastic opener. Unfortunately there isn't a SBD of this show and the AUD is pretty weak, but the show is fantastic, especially for a festival set. I suppose they were crushing festival sets on the reg that month, because 7/14/07 at Trancegression and 7/19/07 at 10,000 Lakes are both A+ sets.
